Hi, I'm Marlena!
Welcome to my vegan food blog where I create vegan comfort food recipes and my husband takes all the beautiful photos you see!
We live in the outskirts of Los Angeles, CA with our daughter and her pet Netherland Dwarf rabbit.
Our vegan adventure began in May of 2013 when I watched a few documentaries and saw what went on in animal slaughterhouses. After that, consuming meat and dairy didn't sit well with my family and me. From then on we embraced a plant-based lifestyle and haven't looked back.
There are so many delicious vegan comfort foods to enjoy that we don't miss meat or dairy at all.
In 2015 I started WYGYP to share all of my delicious vegan creations with you!
About Where You Get Your Protein
What you'll find here are simple vegan recipes that use easy-to-find ingredients. I use common on-hand ingredients as much as possible to make my recipes easily accessible.
My family and I try to eat as few overly processed foods as possible and it reflects on the blog.
Most of the vegan recipes I create are made with whole foods, yet still full of flavor. All of my family's meals are prepared at home by me so the food has to taste good!
I love using dried seasonings to flavor my recipes because they give a consistent taste and, most likely, are in the pantry. So recipes like my Spanish Rice and Jackfruit Tacos are flavored with onion and garlic powder rather than fresh. This also saves time and a trip to the store if you are out of fresh herbs and spices.
I loved comfort foods before going vegan and WYGYP is my place to share those old favorite recipes now made vegan.
Most of my recipes include step-by-step photos and an ingredients shot. I am a visual person so I know how important it is to be able to see each step as well as what is needed to make the recipe.
Stick around and enjoy some delicious vegan food!
